During the Diwali festivities, a firecracker set off a blaze on a high-rise building's 31st floor balcony in Thane city, Maharashtra, officials reported. The incident, which occurred around 10:45 p.m. on Monday, resulted in damaged furniture but caused no injuries.
Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief, Yasin Tadvi, confirmed the fire originated from a firecracker lit during the celebrations. Prompt response by fire personnel ensured that the blaze was extinguished within 30 minutes.
While other minor firecracker-related incidents were noted in the city, officials confirmed that there were no injuries reported in any of these incidents, highlighting the festival's heightened risk of fire hazards.
