Revitalizing Heritage: Museums as Catalysts for Cultural Exchange

The third Liangzhu Forum in Hangzhou highlighted the role of museums in cultural heritage preservation and international cooperation. The event featured discussions on technological innovation, digital engagement, and sustainable development among global museum leaders, and emphasized intercultural dialogue and joint efforts within the International Alliance of Museums of the Silk Road (IAMS).

The third Liangzhu Forum in Hangzhou, held on October 19 and focused on the theme ''Passing the Torch: Expansion of Museum Functions and Revitalization of Cultural Heritage'', showcased the pivotal role museums play in preserving cultural heritage. This event was a collaboration between China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the National Cultural Heritage Administration, and the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government.

Over one hundred representatives, including those from the International Alliance of Museums of the Silk Road (IAMS), attended. Vice Minister Gao Zheng and Vice Governor Hu Wei emphasized museums as platforms for safeguarding human civilization and promoting international cooperation. The forum explored themes like revitalizing cultural heritage through technology and fostering intercultural dialogue.

The event also saw the admission of new members to IAMS and the adoption of the IAMS Hangzhou Declaration, mapping out frameworks for collaborative international efforts. Following the proceedings, participants engaged in a guided tour of the China National Silk Museum, concluding with a cultural exchange event to foster dialogue and networking.
