Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has initiated a significant development at Sambalpur Zoo by laying the foundation for a state-of-the-art tiger enclosure. This new habitat will house two pairs of Royal Bengal Tigers and aligns with efforts to transform the zoo into a medium-sized zoological park.
Under the proposal approved by the Central Zoo Authority, the tiger enclosure will feature naturalistic elements such as a night house, waterfall, and wooden logs to replicate the tigers' wild habitat. The comprehensive security setup includes a power-fenced boundary to ensure the animals remain safe and secure within the enclosure.
In addition to the tiger facilities, a new underwater viewing area for Mugger and Gharial crocodiles is planned. This will give visitors a unique perspective on these aquatic creatures, boosting wildlife conservation and tourism in the district.
