In a significant initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta distributed LPG cylinders and stoves to 250 women in the Wazirpur area on Saturday.
Gupta highlighted the program's impact, stating that it not only promotes better health for women but also advances environmental protection by ensuring access to smoke-free kitchens. She praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in enabling over 2.5 lakh families in Delhi to benefit from the scheme.
The chief minister also announced efforts to eliminate traditional cooking methods using wood and coal. Measures include providing electric heaters to night-shift workers and security guards, and running awareness campaigns urging laundry workers to switch from coal-based irons to more eco-friendly alternatives.
