Since his debut at age four in a theatre group, Umesh's journey through the arts saw him rise to prominence with the lead role in the 1960 film 'Makkala Rajya'. Despite initial setbacks in his film career leading him back to theatre, he secured lasting success with a role in 'Katha Sangama' in 1977.

A versatile performer, Umesh graced the screen alongside Kannada legends and earned accolades for his work, including the Karnataka State Film Award.
