Wentworth Season 7 to start from Season 6’s cliffhanger, Season 8 to have 20 episodes

Wentworth Season 7 is going to feature a total of 12 episodes just like the previous seasons. The Australian television drama programme was given a green signal by Australia’s Foxtel for a seventh season in April last year. Though the progress is kept under wrap, here we’ve shared a few latest updates for you.
Wentworth Season 7 is supposed to be on Netflix soon, and Season 8 is also confirmed. Season 8 is supported by Film Victoria and likely to begin production in 2020. Sources say that the plot for seventh season will pick up where Season 6 ended as a cliffhanger.
Updates provided by Smooth claim that Wentworth Season 8 is not going to have 12 episodes like Season 7 and the previous seasons, except Season 1 that had 10 episodes. The eighth season has been renewed for 20 episodes, confirmed by Foxtel’s Executive Director of Television, Brian Walsh.
“Foxtel is proud and delighted to confirm a further 20 episodes of Wentworth. The renewal of this much-loved drama is a testament to Foxtel’s unwavering commitment to Australian story-telling,” Brian Walsh said.
“Foxtel has nurtured and supported the confronting world of Wentworth beautifully through its first seven award-winning series and we are thrilled to be producing another 20 episodes with them. Jo Porter and Pino Amenta lead an exceptionally creative production team with Marcia Gardiner at the helm of our brilliant writing team. Wentworth is a premium global drama for Fremantle and the news of Series 8 will be celebrated around the world,” Chris Oliver-Taylor, Fremantle CEO Asia Pacific opined.
The exact airing date of Wentworth Season 7 is yet to be announced, but reports suggest that it will be aired in June 2019, and later in September on Netflix.
