Significant airline delays by IndiGo on Friday left thousands of passengers, including filmmaker Kiran Rao, stranded. Rao, en route to Tokyo, found her journey derailed by repeated delays and a lack of clarity from the carrier. Eventually, she spent over eleven hours in Mumbai Airport's Terminal 2 without an updated flight confirmation.
Rao humorously narrated her ordeal on Instagram, noting that she had come to know Terminal 2 intimately. She also playfully referenced Delhi's pollution status, marking her day with light-hearted sarcasm despite the frustrating circumstances.
In response to rising online outrage and traveler dissatisfaction, IndiGo has issued a public apology. The airline acknowledged that severe operational issues led to the cancellation of all domestic flights from Delhi Airport scheduled for December 5, 2025. Additionally, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has ordered a high-level inquiry to investigate the disruptions' root causes.
