West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has voiced her support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative to discuss the historical song 'Vande Mataram' in the Lok Sabha. The Trinamool Congress leader expressed no objections to this move, stating, 'Let him do it. We have no problem.'
The discussion, led by Modi, marks 150 years of 'Vande Mataram,' a song that became a symbol of resilience and unity during the repressive British rule, as highlighted by Modi. Written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and composed by Jadunath Bhattacharya, the song holds significant cultural importance.
However, Banerjee also took the opportunity to criticize some leaders from the BJP for their apparent disdain for national icons. She referenced comments about figures like Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Mahatma Gandhi, questioning how such leaders could serve the nation without appreciating its historical roots.
