The Trinamool Congress is staging a protest in the Parliament complex, demanding the release of unpaid MGNREGA dues to West Bengal, which have been suspended indefinitely. According to TMC leaders, the scheme's suspension has left around 59 lakh workers without pay for three years.
TMC leader in Rajya Sabha Derek O'Brien described the disrupted air travel plans of several MPs as a 'small pain' compared to the hardships faced by the unpaid workers. He accused the central government of depriving the workers of Rs 52,000 crore in dues owed under the rural employment scheme.
Meanwhile, the issue of IndiGo's canceled flights also surfaced in Rajya Sabha discussions, with concerns raised over the airline's perceived monopoly. As the protest continues, the party vows to keep agitating until the central government releases the owed funds.
