Union Home Minister Amit Shah is anticipated to visit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands shortly, marking the 116th anniversary of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar's noted poem 'Sagara Pran Talamala,' disclosed officials on Tuesday.

According to senior officials, preliminary details of Shah's visit hint at an arrival on December 11 or 12 at Veer Savarkar International Airport, although a finalized itinerary remains pending.

Reliable police sources indicated that the Home Minister is scheduled to unveil a Savarkar statue at an event in Beodnabad, South Andaman, on December 12. The ceremony, also attended by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, will precede his address at the Dr B R Ambedkar Institute of Technology. Shah is also expected to inaugurate a new forensic science lab in Sri Vijaya Puram.
