In a groundbreaking move, stadiums across Britain are phasing out beef burgers in favor of wild venison, striving to significantly cut carbon emissions. At the forefront is Brentford's Gtech Stadium, driving this eco-conscious initiative with the support of hospitality partner Levy UK.
According to James Beale, the Head of Sustainability at Brentford, swapping beef for wild venison reduces carbon emissions by a substantial 85% per kilogram. This transition is now spreading to over 20 venues across the UK and Ireland, potentially saving up to 1,182 tonnes of CO2e annually.
The initiative, which includes creative packaging and sustainable condiments, is not only environmentally beneficial but also popular among fans. Sales figures have soared, demonstrating a positive reception at events such as the women's Rugby World Cup final at Twickenham.
