In response to the tragic fire at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub that resulted in 25 fatalities, authorities in Goa have intensified their crackdown on entertainment venues, sealing at least two nightclubs for non-compliance with safety regulations.

Cafe CO2 Goa, a popular venue overlooking Vagator beach, was shut down after it was found lacking a fire safety no-objection certificate. The move follows a similar closure of the nearby Goya Club.

Officials have announced new stringent safety measures, including mandatory compliance with fire safety standards, a prohibition on fireworks, and restrictions on alcohol sales after 11 pm, to enhance public safety ahead of the festive season.
