In an intriguing turn of events, four out of 19 films have received censorship exemptions for screening at the 30th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), according to sources on Tuesday.
The films cleared for screening are 'Beef', 'Eagles of The Republic', 'Heart of The Wolf', and 'Once Upon A Time In Gaza'. 'Beef' tells the story of Lati, a young woman from Barcelona who embraces freestyle rap to confront personal and societal challenges.
Meanwhile, films still under review include Sergei Eisenstein's seminal 'Battleship Potemkin', a century-old classic. Criticism has been voiced over the denial of its clearance, with Congress MP Shashi Tharoor calling it 'laughable' on social media. The festival runs from December 12 to 19.
