Shakti Samanta, the visionary filmmaker behind classics such as 'Aradhana' and 'Amar Prem', has left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. Despite his contributions, he surprisingly never received major national honors like the Padma Shri. His son, Ashim Samanta, lamented this oversight on the occasion of Shakti's 100th birth anniversary.

Ashim reminisced about his father's versatile storytelling that transcended genres—from romantic dramas to thrillers—and his innate music sense. Despite feeling hurt by the lack of recognition, Shakti remained committed to his craft, always opting to let his work speak for itself rather than campaigning for awards.

In honor of Shakti's centennial year, a month-long film festival featuring 32 of his iconic films is being organized. The celebration highlights Shakti's legacy as a pioneering director who not only captivated audiences but also nurtured deep relationships with top artists, shaping Bollywood's golden era.
