The Bhopal-based Sudarshan Chakra Corps commemorated the 78th Army Day on Thursday, marking the historical moment when Lieutenant General K M Cariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Army.

This day is celebrated annually on January 15 to honor Cariappa's succession of General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of independent India.

A dignified wreath-laying ceremony was held at the War Memorial in Dronachal, led by Lieutenant General Arvind Chauhan. He encouraged all ranks to continue upholding the Army's esteemed traditions and contribute diligently to nation-building, thus enhancing the pride and honor of the motherland.
