British culture minister Lisa Nandy engaged in crucial talks with Paramount SkyDance chief executive David Ellison this week, addressing key issues impacting the UK's film and television landscape, sources disclosed on Friday.
The discussions, held on Thursday, gain significance as Ellison manages Paramount's intense struggle with Warner Bros Discovery. Paramount has yet to issue an official comment.
The meeting coincided with a notable U.S. judge's rejection of Paramount's proposal to hasten its lawsuit against Warner Bros regarding the studio's slated sale to Netflix. Paramount is endeavoring to convince Warner Bros shareholders to favor its $30-per-share cash offer over Netflix's lower cash-and-stock proposition, seeking to elect directors to Warner Bros' board to foster negotiations.
