In 2025, Sri Lanka attracted 2.3 million tourists, with India leading as the top source market by contributing over 531,000 visitors, doubling the next highest country. The UK followed with 21,277 arrivals. European and Asia Pacific regions dominated, confirming Sri Lanka's status as a favored vacation and winter sun destination.

In a record-breaking year for Sri Lanka's tourism sector, 2025 saw the arrival of 2.3 million tourists. An official statement highlighted India's prominent role, contributing 531,511 visitors, more than double that of the next highest nation.

This significant influx marks a year-on-year rise of 15%, underscoring Sri Lanka's growing appeal as a travel destination. The UK followed as the second-largest market, providing 21,277 tourists.

Despite monthly fluctuations, Indian arrivals maintained an impressive average of over 23%, peaking in December. Overall, Europe and the Asia Pacific dominated the figures, comprising 92.7% of total arrivals, affirming Sri Lanka's status as a prominent winter sun destination.
