Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu made a landmark announcement on Tuesday, unveiling a Rs 250 crore riverfront development project in Manali, aiming to invigorate tourism in the scenic region.
This announcement coincided with the inauguration of the Manali Winter Carnival-2026, where the chief minister emphasized the state government's commitment to establishing Himachal Pradesh as a global destination for nature, religious, adventure, spiritual, and wellness tourism.
The government is rolling out a new eco-tourism policy and has earmarked 11 eco-tourism sites, with 27 more underway, to enhance local employment through tourism. Key initiatives include green biodiversity parks, trekking routes, and fast-tracked ropeway projects for conservation.
