On Monday, Sanober Shaikh, daughter of the late notorious gangster Hussain Ustara, launched a legal battle to halt the release of the upcoming Hindi film 'O' Romeo'. She alleges the film, allegedly portraying her father's life, lacks authorization and is a false representation.
The civil suit, filed against filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala, director Vishal Bhardwaj, and journalist-author Hussain Zaidi, claims the movie is derived from Zaidi's book 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai'. With Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor playing Ustara, the film is slated for a February 13 release.
Sanober emphasizes that her father actively contributed to crime prevention in Mumbai. She fears the film's release could harm her family's reputation and her children's peace. The filmmakers have denied her claims, asserting the film is fiction. The court will deliberate on the matter on February 6.
