Veteran poet, writer, and translator Loknath Yashwant has been elected as the president of the 20th Vidrohi Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, scheduled to take place in Nanded from February 28 to March 1.
This announcement was made by Pratima Pardeshi, the state president of the Vidrohi Cultural Movement, and Rahul Pradhan, the reception committee chairman. Yashwant succeeds Dr. Ashok Rana, who presided over the previous conference held in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Yashwant, a prominent voice in Marathi literature, has extensively highlighted the struggles of Dalits and marginalized communities. His work embodies a rational vision that challenges oppressive traditions and power structures, with his poetry fostering discourse on social justice. He has published five poetry collections and translated significant literary works into Marathi and Hindi.
