Mammootty, the renowned Malayalam film star, recently encountered a torrent of cyber attacks, raising concerns over his visit to a newly inaugurated township in Wayanad. The online harassment allegedly stemmed from Left-leaning social media factions following Mammootty's expressed discomfort over the close presence of CPI(M) district secretary K Rafeeq during his personal trip.
Senior CPI(M) officials sought to downplay the controversy, with leaders underscoring Mammootty's commitment to understanding the Wayanad region's circumstances. Minister P A Mohammed Riyas emphasized Rafeeq's role as a social activist involved in the area's disaster relief efforts, while Minister P Rajeev commended the actor for bringing visibility to the township project.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Cherian Philip condemned the online attacks, describing them as malicious attempts to tarnish Mammootty's reputation. The actor's visit was to an estate returning homes to landslide-affected families, reflecting the resilience and unity of Kerala's residents, as highlighted by Chief Minister Vijayan's recent inauguration.
