Tragic Incident: Veterinarian Loses Life to Hippo Attack

Shivamogga's Tavarekoppa Lion and Safari Zoo became the site of a tragedy as a young veterinarian, Dr. Sameeksha Reddy, was fatally attacked by a hippopotamus. The incident occurred during a late-night medical care session inside the animal's enclosure.
Dr. Reddy, who was recently appointed on a contract basis, was rushed to a hospital, but succumbed to her injuries early Friday morning. Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre expressed his condolences, emphasizing the preciousness of every life and supporting the bereaved family.
The minister has initiated an inquiry, demanding a report within a week, and ensured that veterinarians adhere to Standard Operating Procedures when treating wild animals. Compensation for the deceased doctor will be provided, as per government regulations.
