A section of the historic Kapoor Haveli, a cultural landmark linked to Bollywood icon Raj Kapoor, collapsed amid recent heavy rains and an earthquake in Peshawar, officials confirmed. The structure, recognized as a national heritage site by Pakistan in 2016, suffered notable damage due to these inclement conditions.

Local authorities, including Shakeel Waheedullah, the heritage council secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, raised alarms about the integrity of the remaining structure after a portion caved in. While no casualties were reported, there is an urgent call for restoration to prevent the loss of the architectural and cultural marvel.

Dating back to the early 20th century, Kapoor Haveli is renowned for its intricate design and historical significance, serving as the birthplace of Raj Kapoor and his family. However, decades of neglect and environmental stress have left the site in dire need of conservation. Provincial officials emphasize immediate action to preserve this vital piece of cultural history.
