A fire engulfed at least six cottages at a resort on Ashvem beach in North Goa, police reported on Friday. The incident occurred near the Ajoba temple at approximately 8:45 PM on Thursday, prompting guests to quickly evacuate the premises.

According to Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar, the blaze may have originated from a short circuit in the resort's generator room, subsequently spreading to the cottages. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel from Mapusa and Pernem promptly arrived at the scene and successfully managed to control the fire. Authorities are currently assessing whether the cottages were compliant with necessary permissions, including a no-objection certificate from the fire department.
