In a recent development that has spurred widespread discussion on air travel accessibility, actor Marissa Bode, best known for her portrayal of Nessarose in the movie adaptation of 'Wicked', has publicly disclosed an upsetting encounter at an airport. According to Bode, she was denied access to a flight due to her disability, an incident she shared via a TikTok video that has since garnered significant attention.

Bode explained that while traveling to a small Pennsylvania town, she required a connecting flight operated by Southern Airways. The actor claims she was prohibited from boarding after informing staff she couldn't stand up, as all passengers must ascend stairs to board, a policy rooted in the small aircraft's design that seats fewer than 28 passengers.

After her video went viral, a Southern Airways mobility department director contacted Bode, expressing regret and confirming an internal investigation. While the contract of carriage aligns with their actions, the incident has reignited the debate on how inclusive policies can be better implemented, a sentiment echoed by Bode's call for improved accessibility.
