Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday said the country has witnessed massive redevelopment and protection of ancient history, culture, traditions and temples since Narendra Modi became prime minister in 2014. Addressing the 'Somnath Swabhiman Parv', Saha said there had been repeated attempts to destroy the historic temple in Gujarat, but it continued to stand as a symbol of the country's ancient religious pride. The programme marks 1,000 years since Mahmud of Ghazni's invasion of the Somnath temple in the year 1026. ''Whenever invaders such as Alauddin Khilji, Jafar Khan and Aurangzeb attacked the temple, people came forward and rebuilt it to save the pride of our civilisation,'' he said. The chief minister said the PM has focused on the redevelopment of several religious structures, which, according to him, was not witnessed during previous regimes. ''The country has been witnessing massive redevelopment and protection of ancient history, culture, traditions and temples after Narendra Modi became prime minister in 2014. The world is changing very fast, but we should not forget our roots, which are laid in ancient culture, tradition and religious pride,'' he said. Saha said the present government has initiated the process of redeveloping religious structures across Tripura. Earlier, the CM offered prayers at Shivbari temple to mark the 'Somnath Swabhiman Parv'.
