Hollywood actor Russell Andrews, known for standout performances in 'Straight Outta Compton' and 'Better Call Saul', has announced his diagnosis with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a fatal neurodegenerative condition also referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease. During a candid conversation on 'The Story Is with Elex Michaelson', Andrews, accompanied by his fiancée, actress Erica Tazel, disclosed his health battle.

'I am a person living with ALS,' Andrews openly shared. Reflecting on his condition, the 64-year-old actor revealed, 'I was diagnosed in the late fall of last year. It’s been humbling, but the incredible support from a family of caring individuals, whom I didn't know a year ago, has been tremendously uplifting,' as reported by People.

Recounting early signs of the disease, Andrews described, 'It was a stressful period. There was a prolonged work hiatus, followed by consecutive strikes. I found myself unable to carry out basic tasks, dropping cups and glasses, and experiencing nerve sensations.' ALS, a progressive disorder impacting motor neurons, impairs voluntary muscle function and breathing, as noted by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
