Prasoon Joshi was felicitated at Goafest 2026 for his appointment as chairman of Prasar Bharati, marking a significant moment in shaping public broadcasting in India.
The Indian advertising, media and communications fraternity felicitated Prasoon Joshi at Goafest 2026 on his appointment as chairman of Prasar Bharati, recognising his contribution to the industry and his new role in shaping public broadcasting in the country.
He was felicitated on Thursday. The Goafest has been jointly organised by Advertising Agencies Association of India and The Advertising Club.
Joshi, who also serves as chairman of Omnicom Advertising India, is regarded as one of the country's leading creative voices, with a career spanning advertising, cinema, literature and public communication.
Industry leaders said his appointment to Prasar Bharati marks a significant moment where creativity, cultural understanding and public communication converge to strengthen the national broadcaster's role.
Accepting the honour, Joshi said recognition from one's own fraternity carries special significance and comes with a sense of responsibility.
''The advertising industry has shaped and continues to sharpen my understanding of people, culture and storytelling. Prasar Bharati now offers the privilege of applying that understanding in the service of the nation and a larger public purpose,'' he said.
Speakers at the event noted that Joshi's body of work reflects a unique ability to bridge creativity with cultural insight, and expressed confidence that his leadership would bring renewed energy and vision to Prasar Bharati as a public institution.
They added that his experience across diverse fields is expected to help the broadcaster remain relevant and reflective of India's diversity while strengthening its connect with audiences.
