Russia Moves to Lift Roblox Ban Amid Safety Assurances
Russia's digital ministry requests law enforcement to lift Roblox's ban after assurances of enhanced safety for young users. The ban, initiated due to child safety concerns, faced backlash. Roblox commits to implementing age-based restrictions and changes to ensure compliance with Russian law.
Russia's digital ministry has sought the support of law enforcement agencies to lift a ban on the U.S. gaming platform Roblox. The decision comes after the company assured enhanced safety measures for younger users, aligning with Russian law.
The communication watchdog Roskomnadzor had imposed the ban last December, citing child safety concerns. This action had led to discontent among Russian users, even prompting a rare protest in the Siberian city of Tomsk.
Roblox has agreed to implement age-based access restrictions and other measures to curb harmful content, signaling its willingness to adapt its platform to comply with local regulations.
