Thriller "Let Him Go", starring Kevin Costner and Diane Lane, will release on August 21, 2020 in the US, studio Focus Features has announced. The film, directed by Thomas Bezucha, is based on the novel of the same name by Larry Watson.
Bezucha, best known for films such as "Big Eden" and "The Family Stone", has also penned the script. The story follows retired sheriff George Blackledge (Costner) and his wife Margaret (Lane) as they leave their Montana ranch to rescue their young grandson from a dangerous family living off the grid in the Dakotas, headed by matriarch Blanche Weboy.
The film also features Academy Award nominee Lesley Manville in a pivotal role, the studio said in a statement. "Let Him Go" has been produced by Paula Mazur and Mitchell Kaplan of The Mazur Kaplan Company alongside Bezucha.
Lane and Costner previously starred together in DC superhero projects "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice".
