Arunachal Pradesh Governor security agencies of the northeastern states

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr. B D Mishra on Friday called upon the security agencies of the northeastern states to maintain close coordination to contain the insurgency in the region.

Addressing the 25th Conference of DGPs, IGPs, and heads of central police organizations of the northeastern states at Darbar Hall in Raj Bhawan here, he cautioned that delayed action, no action or live and let live policy towards insurgents, in some cases, are likely to erode the confidence of people in security organizations.

Speaking about his as the former head of Black Cat commandos, Dr. Mishra said that job creation, entrepreneurship development schemes, good intelligence, good policing, effective local administration, quick and fair justice, good roads and communication network, proper education and effective counterinsurgency military operation could help in controlling the insurgency.

He also said that the police has to be fair, prompt and determined, demonstrate fairness, promptness, and determination and win the trust of people through transparency, honesty, and accountability. "In police and policing, the constable on the beat is very important for a civilized society.

They keep it safe, secure and developing," he added. While suggesting methods for strengthening the police forces from all angles to counter the emerging security challenges, the governor stressed on the need for transparent recruitment, effective training, and police reforms. The governor also called upon the DGPs to convene regular meetings to resolve interstate issues.

Speaking about the vulnerability of boys, girls, and women in the orphanages and shelter houses, the governor advised the police to take suo motu action and carry out proper checking.
