The Supreme Court has given a big decision on the validity of Aadhar. The country's top court has validated Aadhar with certain conditions. The constitutionality of the Aadhar has been retained with some changes.

The Supreme Court has abolished the Aadhaar Act 57. The Supreme Court further said,

Minimum demographic (population related) and biometric data are collected by UIDAI for Aadhar Nomination. The base number given to a person is unique and can not go to any other person.

Essential for Government welfare schemes and PAN

The most prominent in this is the validity of Aadhaar card in government welfare schemes. Aadhaar card will be essential in the main beneficiary schemes of all social welfare. The government had demanded the mandatory requirement of Aadhaar card in schemes to prevent fraud and misuse of government money.

Apart from this, the Supreme Court has upheld the system of linking the Aadhaar with PAN number.

No need to link with Mobile number

Telecom companies can not demand Aadhaar card for new mobile connections. Prior to that, telecom companies sought the Aadhar card of the users for the new mobile connection.

The Supreme Court said that institutions like UGC and CBSE cannot ask for Aadhar.
