Justice Surya Kant appointed as Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court

Justice Surya Kant of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has been appointed Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, officials said on Wednesday.

Justice Kant was cleared for elevation by the Supreme Court in January, an official told IANS.

Justice Sanjay Karol had assumed the office as the acting Chief Justice of the High Court with the retirement of Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir on April 24 last year.
