A minor girl from Tripura's Sepahijala district who was allegedly abducted from her locality was rescued from the neighbouring state of Assam. A total of three persons were arrested in connection with the case and subsequently produced before the Court on Thursday, a police official stated. According to available information, a minor girl who hails from the Chelikhala area under the jurisdiction of the Bishalgarh police station in Sepahijala district was abducted while she was returning home from school on April 15.

A woman was also involved in the kidnapping and convinced the girl to get into the car. She assured the victim of dropping her in front of her residence. The accused woman was later identified as Jyotsna Khatun, OC Bishalgarh police station Shiuli Das informed media personnel. As she got into the car, the perpetrators forcefully took her to a private hotel based out of Silchar town located in Assam. Anxious of the victim's whereabouts, her parents lodged a missing complaint with the Bishalgarh police station.

On April 16, police got their first breakthrough as they could trace the girl's location in Silchar. A team of cops immediately rushed to the location and rescued the minor girl. Mohammad Mustafa who is reportedly the main mastermind of the kidnapping was arrested. The accused woman and an associate of the perpetrators identified as Partha Nag were also arrested.

Nag helped the accused persons in getting access to accommodation in the hotel," Das explained. After their detention and the successful rescue operation, a specific case under the relevant section of the IPC was lodged with the Bishalgarh police station. Further investigation into the matter is underway. (ANI)
