Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed anguish over the loss of lives in the explosion at a fireworks unit near Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district. In the tragic incident, eight people, including five women, were killed and 12 others injured after an explosion took place at the firecracker manufacturing unit near Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district on Thursday.
"Anguished by the loss of lives due to a mishap at a factory in Sivakasi. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. I pray that those who have been injured recover at the earliest," PM Modi posted on X. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Meanwhile, later on Thursday, Tamil Nadu Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management, KKSSR Ramachandran, visited a government hospital and met the people injured in the explosion. The minister asked the doctors about the health conditions of the injured. (ANI)
