India's Coal Production Soars: May Sees Impressive 10.15% Boost

India’s coal production surged by 10.15% in May, hitting 83.91 million tonnes compared to 76.18 million tonnes in the same period last year. State-owned Coal India Ltd. (CIL) saw a 7.46% increase, while captive and other entities grew by 32.76%. Overall coal dispatches rose by 10.35% to 90.84 million tonnes.

India’s coal production witnessed a significant surge of 10.15% in May, reaching 83.91 million tonnes. The Coal Ministry's provisional data highlights that state-owned Coal India Ltd. (CIL) reported a 7.46% rise in production to 64.40 million tonnes.

Captive and other entities showed remarkable growth, with a 32.76% increase to 13.78 million tonnes. Meanwhile, the overall coal dispatches for the month reached 90.84 million tonnes, a 10.35% increase from the previous year.

Coal India Ltd., accounting for over 80% of domestic coal output, dispatched 69.08 million tonnes, marking an 8.50% rise. The total stock of coal with companies now stands at 96.48 million tonnes.
