JSW Energy Kicks Off 1GWh Battery Storage Project in Rajasthan

JSW Energy has initiated the construction of a 1 GWh Battery Energy Storage System in Fatehgarh, Rajasthan. JSW Energy on Monday began constructing a 1 gigawatt hour (GWh) battery energy storage system project in Fatehgarh, Rajasthan.

The project, secured from the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), features two installations of 500 MWh each, aimed at enhancing grid stability and renewable energy integration. Designed under a Build Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) mechanism, it will be transferred to the offtaker after 12 years. The project is expected to be commissioned by June 2025.

In addition, JSW Energy has signed an MoU with JSW Steel Ltd to supply green hydrogen and oxygen by 2030. Sharad Mahendra, Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Energy, emphasized the project's role in advancing battery energy storage systems.
