Adani Group is set to revolutionize India's renewable energy landscape with a massive Rs 2 lakh crore investment aimed at achieving a 40-gigawatt capacity by 2030. Top officials announced this ambitious plan on Tuesday, aligning with the company's target of net zero emissions by 2050.
The conglomerate's current 10 GW capacity, built from renewable sources such as solar and wind energy, will see an addition of 6-7 GW each year to meet the 50 GW goal. According to Sagar Adani, Executive Director of Adani Green Energy Ltd, this growth will require a ballpark investment of around Rs 5 crore per megawatt.
CEO Amit Singh highlighted a comprehensive push that includes a 5 GW pump storage capacity to balance nighttime peak demand and further efforts to generate carbon credits, driving the group towards its net zero vision. AGEL has revised its renewable energy target from 45,000 MW to 50,000 MW by 2030, with a mix of solar, wind, and pumped storage projects.
