West Bengal Leader of Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, has penned a letter to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, highlighting a potential 'financial meltdown' and 'joblessness' crisis in the state. Adhikari cautioned that West Bengal teeters on the edge of an economic collapse, resulting in widespread unemployment.
In his letter, Adhikari attributed the state's financial woes to failed industrialization and politically motivated 'dole politics'. He warned that developmental and welfare funds might be diverted or mismanaged to stave off the looming crisis. 'West Bengal is heading towards a financial meltdown, compounded by a joblessness pandemic,' he stated.
Adhikari called for stringent financial oversight from the Centre to ensure accountability in the state's financial management. 'Close financial vigilance is required to prevent the misuse or squandering of funds,' he urged.
The BJP leader further elaborated in a post on X, mentioning his meeting with Sitharaman to discuss the state's precarious financial situation. He also submitted documents supporting his claims, warning of intentional fund diversion by the West Bengal Government to delay the impending financial crisis.
