Shimla Ramps Up Disaster Preparedness with Joint Task Force Meeting

Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap held a special meeting in Shimla to review disaster preparedness with the NDRF and Home Guards. A 35-member NDRF team and Quick Response Team will be stationed for three months to ensure rapid response to monsoon-related crises.

In a bid to counter the looming monsoon disasters, Shimla district administration's Deputy Commissioner, Anupam Kashyap, on Thursday convened a special meeting with the joint task force to assess preparedness. The meeting involved a newly formed 35-member NDRF team and a nine-member Quick Response Team (QRT) from the Home Guards.

During the session, Kashyap affirmed, "District administration is fully prepared to deal with any disaster scenarios, conducting regular reviews and ensuring swift action when necessary." He highlighted that the Home Guards and the NDRF team have been trained for different activities and emphasized their collective readiness. "Teams will remain on standby for the next three months to respond promptly to any emergencies," he added.

Inspector Praveen, from the Shimla-based NDRF team, echoed this readiness, stating, "We are committed to effective disaster response and lifesaving efforts." He underscored continuous upgrading of capabilities based on past experiences, ensuring coordinated efforts with local authorities and the police for prompt crisis management.
