Lithuania's Ignitis Group Donates Disused Power Plant to Ukraine

Lithuanian state-controlled energy company Ignitis Group is set to dismantle and donate equipment from its disused Vilnius thermal power plant to Ukraine. This is part of a larger 50 million euro equipment donation from four Lithuanian state-controlled energy companies, aimed at assisting Ukraine amidst recent Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure.

Lithuanian energy giant Ignitis Group has announced plans to dismantle and donate machinery from its dormant Vilnius thermal power plant to Ukraine.

The move forms part of a 50 million euro aid package from four Lithuanian state-controlled energy firms, according to the nation's Energy Ministry. This initiative aims to help Ukraine, which has been suffering from Russian strikes on its energy infrastructure.

The Soviet-era Vilnius thermal power plant, with a production capacity of 360 MW and heat capacity of 603 MW, has been out of use for nine years, though its equipment remains functional.
