Ukraine's parliament voted on Tuesday to eliminate taxes and duties on energy equipment imports amid the ongoing energy crisis triggered by Russian attacks.

Recent months have seen Russian missile and drone strikes decimate Ukrainian energy facilities, leading to widespread blackouts and utility shortages. The new legislation, aimed at easing the import process for electric generators, wind and solar generation equipment, and accumulators, was confirmed by senior lawmaker Danyo Hetmantsev.

Energy Minister German Galuschenko emphasized that the move would simplify access to alternative energy sources for businesses and residents. He also noted over 551 million euros are available in a specialised government fund aimed at repairing the sector. Additionally, lawmaker Dmytro Razumkov called the legislation a "right step" and advocated for extending preferential import rules on various power equipment until June 2026.
