Union Minister for Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju inaugurated the 'Lok Samvardhan Parv' event in New Delhi on Thursday. The Ministry of Minority Affairs is hosting this event as part of its 100-day programme to showcase its schemes, programs, and achievements.
Addressing reporters, Rijiju stated that the event aims to provide a platform for talented artists supported by various welfare schemes. The festival also allows these artists to display and sell their products. Rijiju expressed satisfaction that the initiative began within the first 100 days of the current government, attributing it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of inclusive outreach.
The 10-day festival is being held at Dilli Haat and features the release of a coffee table book detailing the Ministry's accomplishments. Additionally, the National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) announced a credit plan to extend over Rs 1000 crores to 2.5 lakh beneficiaries by 2024-25. The event also showcases more than 70 unique handicraft and handloom products created by 162 artisans from minority communities, promoted through various governmental schemes and agencies.
