Delhi HC Judges Elevated to Permanent Posts

The Central Government, through the Ministry of Law and Justice, has promoted Justices Girish Katpalia, Manoj Jain, and Dharmesh Sharma to permanent judges of the Delhi High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium unanimously recommended their appointments, assessing their judgments as 'Good' and verifying their suitability.

The Central Government, via the Ministry of Law and Justice, has officially elevated three additional judges of the Delhi High Court to permanent positions. Justices Girish Katpalia, Manoj Jain, and Dharmesh Sharma received this significant promotion on Friday.

In March, the Supreme Court collegium recommended that these judges be made permanent, based on a unanimous decision by the Delhi High Court's Collegium. The Supreme Court judges familiar with the Delhi High Court were also consulted to assess the suitability of these judges for permanent roles.

A committee formed by the Chief Justice of India evaluated the judgments passed by these judges, rating them as 'Good'. After a thorough review of all relevant materials, including feedback from the Department of Justice, the Collegium concluded that Justices Girish Katpalia, Manoj Jain, and Dharmesh Sharma are both qualified and fit to serve as permanent judges.

On the basis of this overall consideration, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended that these additions to the bench be made permanent to fill existing vacancies within the Delhi High Court.
