Airbus Advances Helicopter Assembly in India

Airbus is planning to establish a final assembly line for H125 helicopters in India with eight potential sites shortlisted. The facility, expected to be operational by 2026, will produce up to 10 helicopters annually initially, with capacity to scale based on market demand. This is a strategic move to cater to the growing helicopter market in India and South Asia.

European aerospace giant Airbus has announced plans to set up a final assembly line (FAL) for H125 helicopters in India, having shortlisted eight potential sites. The ground-breaking ceremony for the facility is anticipated later this year, with operations expected to commence by 2026.

Initially, the facility will produce up to 10 helicopters annually, with the possibility to increase capacity based on market demand. 'India is the market of the future for helicopters,' remarked Olivier Michalon, Executive Vice President, Global Business of Airbus Helicopters.

This strategic decision comes as Airbus projects a high demand for H125 helicopters in India and South Asia over the next 20 years. The facility will not only meet Indian market needs but also serve neighboring regions, potentially making Airbus more competitive in terms of delivery and lead times.
