On Friday, BJP members from Karnataka staged a protest in the Parliament premises, raising concerns about alleged corruption in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and the Valmiki Development Corporation. The protest, led by former Karnataka Minister and MP Basvaraj Bommai, accused the Congress party of looting Rs 1087 crore in the Valmiki Development Corporation case.
Bommai questioned the actions of Rahul Gandhi during the alleged misappropriation of funds meant for Dalits, stating, "The Congress has looted Rs 1087 crore from the people in the Valmiki Development Corporation case. What was Rahul Gandhi doing when the money of the Dalits was being looted? Such looting can only be done by the Congress party." Bommai further demanded a CBI investigation into the matter.
BJP MP Jagadish Shettar addressed the MUDA issue, criticizing Karnataka CM Siddaramiah for not allowing a discussion on the case in the assembly. Shettar claimed, "Siddaramiah is not ready to allow hearing the case in the assembly. All the leaders of the opposition have been demanding a discussion, but detailed discussions are being denied, which shows the BJP is the culprit. This is the reason why the BJP is holding a protest." Echoing Shettar's sentiments, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi alleged rampant corruption in Karnataka, urging CM Siddaramiah to resign and permit a CBI probe into the allegations.
