Madhya Pradesh CM Issues Rainfall Alert as Bargi Dam Nears Full Capacity

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed concerns over continuous rainfall and alerted regions surrounding Bargi Dam as the water level is expected to rise. Heavy rain forecasts were issued for multiple districts, urging citizens to exercise caution. Relief camps have been set up for affected areas.

Amid continuous rainfall in parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has issued a warning and urged citizens to exercise caution. The water level at Bargi Dam, located in Jabalpur district, is anticipated to reach 418 meters by Sunday, July 28, prompting plans to open the dam's gates and alerting nearby areas.

'Heavy rain is forecasted today in Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Jabalpur, Guna, Rajgarh, Dewas, Raisen, Vidisha, Sehore, Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat, Katni, Panna, Chhatarpur, and Satna. We must all remain vigilant,' CM Yadav advised in an announcement to ANI. He further cautioned against seeking shelter under trees due to the risk of lightning. Light rain is expected statewide for the next four days, with current irrigation dam capacities reported as follows: Bargi Dam at 53 percent, Gandhi Sagar at 56 percent, Indira Sagar at 23 percent, Omkareshwar at 44 percent, and Rajghat at 30 percent.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the Bargi Dam's water level, presently at 416 meters, would reach 418 meters by July 28, necessitating the opening of its gates. He called for increased caution in Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Narmadapuram, Harda, Khandwa, and Khargone. Relief camps have been established in Sagar and Katni in response to potential flooding.

According to the meteorological office, very heavy rain accompanied by lightning is expected in Raisen, Sehore, Guna, and Harda districts this evening. Similarly, heavy rain with lightning will continue in Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Vidisha, Bhopal, Rajgarh, Dewas, North Khandwa, Narmadapuram, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Pandhurna, South Chhindwara, Shajapur, Balaghat, Bhind, and Maihar.

Moderate rain with lightning is forecast for Pachmarhi, Khajuraho, Agar, Indore, Khargone, Morena, Gwalior, Datia, Niwari, Panna, Rewa, Mauganj, Dindori, Anuppur, North Chhindwara, South Khandwa, Sagar, Damoh, Satna, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Dhar, Ratlam, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Barwani, Betul, Burhanpur, Senoi, and Mandla. Light rain with lightning will persist in Sidhi, Singrauli, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, and Sheopur Kalan during evening hours, according to ANI.
