Record Surge in I-T Returns: Over 5 Crore Filings on Portal

The income tax department reported a significant increase in e-filing, with over 5 crore returns submitted, marking an 8% rise compared to the previous year. Infosys, the ITD's tech partner, has been tasked with ensuring smooth operations during the peak filing period.

The income tax department announced on Saturday that over 5 crore income tax returns have been filed on the e-filing portal, reflecting an 8% increase from the previous year.

The Department assured that Infosys, responsible for maintaining the portal, has committed to providing uninterrupted services during the peak filing period.

'More than 5 crore ITRs for AY 2024-25 have already been received on the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department till 26th of July 2024. This is 8% more than the ITRs filed in the preceding year,' the Department posted on X.

On July 26 alone, over 28 lakh ITRs were filed.

Infosys, the technology partner for the e-filing portal, facilitated a total of over 8.61 crore ITR filings in the 2023-24 fiscal year.
