The Regional Meteorological Department in Bhopal has issued a critical warning for extremely heavy rainfall across six districts in Madhya Pradesh within the next 24 hours. The affected districts include Satna, Vidisha, Raisen, Betul, Pandhurna, and Sidhi, with expected rainfall ranging between 115 mm and 204 mm, officials stated on Saturday.
Concurrent incessant rainfall over the past 48 hours has led to severe waterlogging in various parts of Bhopal. 'Monsoon conditions are active statewide, leading to rainfall in most districts. This pattern will likely continue as the monsoon trough line currently lies over Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is expected to enhance conditions for heavy rainfall across the state in the next two days,' explained BS Yadav, a regional meteorologist.
In Bhopal, significant rainfall is forecasted for today and tomorrow, with a slight reduction expected afterward, Yadav added. A very heavy rainfall alert has also been issued for the next 24 hours in Satna, Vidisha, Raisen, Betul, Pandhurna, and Sidhi, predicting rainfall between 115 mm and 204 mm. Moreover, a yellow alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for 16 other districts.
At present, most districts in Madhya Pradesh are experiencing normal rainfall rates, except for some northeastern areas like Satna, Sidhi, Rewa, and Singrauli, which have seen less than normal rainfall. However, these areas are anticipated to see a return to normal levels with the upcoming spell of rain, Yadav concluded. (ANI)
