Army Foils Infiltration Attempt in Jammu's Machhal Sector

In a joint operation, Army and police in Jammu's Reasi district conducted a search. In Kupwara, armed intruders from Pakistan attacked an Army post in Machhal Sector, leading to an exchange of fire. One intruder was killed; one Indian soldier succumbed to injuries.

In a joint effort, security forces launched a search operation in Dadooa Village, Reasi district, Jammu, on Saturday. The operation saw collaboration between the Army and police personnel.

Simultaneously, two to three armed intruders from Pakistan breached the Line of Control and opened fire on a forward Army post in Machhal Sector, Kupwara district, taking advantage of adverse weather conditions and poor visibility. In the ensuing gunfight, one intruder was neutralized, while an Indian Army soldier wounded in the encounter later succumbed to his injuries.

According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Defence, Srinagar, the infiltrators exploited harsh weather and low visibility to cross the LC and assault the Army post. The alert troops retaliated promptly, eliminating one Pakistani infiltrator and recovering weapons, ammunition, and other war-like materials. Identification of the deceased intruder is underway.

During the fierce exchange, two Indian soldiers were gravely injured and rushed to the Base Hospital in Srinagar. Tragically, one soldier succumbed to his wounds, though the other is currently stable and responding well to treatment.

Highlighting the pattern of such infiltrations, the PRO mentioned that similar attempts by Pakistan-aided infiltrators have been thwarted in the past despite challenging conditions. The Indian Army remains resolute in preserving the sanctity of the Line of Control and countering any malicious strategies from the Pakistani Army.
